ZOE FENG

Throughout our experience in filming this dance cover video, we went through a whole process from choosing the song and practicing the dance to the final filming and editing. Reflecting upon this whole process, the filming and editing process seemed to be the most time-consuming part. However, what I came to realize is that when we look at the final result, despite the fact that the video only shows the process of dancing and filming, the beforehand preparation process is just as important, or even more important when it comes to creating a dance cover video.

Choosing a song, deciding the locations, matching outfits. All these things are just a small part of all the preparation we need in order to have a smooth filming process. In our team, we had people specifically assigned to take care of these jobs. They would have to take extra effort to put together a color palette and double check locations for filming. The things that are done behind the scenes created a steady foundation for what comes next the process. It was because of the detailed planning, that made the upcoming steps so much easier for our team. This definitely showed me that for a long term run, planning is important and needs to done carefully in order to have everything run smoothly.

In a real K-pop industry setting nowadays, the importance of preparation and marketing strategies is even more obvious. Behind every perfect image of an idol, there are managers who manager their daily life, make-up artists and stylist for their physical image, the company who takes charge of the artist’s exposure marketing and so much more. Along the process of creating an idol, none would be possible if the beginning preparations weren’t done meticulously. All these aspects combine together and create a foundation that contributes to the final step, whether it is creating a Kpop idol or just a cover video.
